To make starting this new chapter of your life easier, your first day of work will be an induction day on which you will get to know the other apprentices and learn about your apprenticing company. We have a tried-and-tested tradition of assigning "buddies" (Patenshaft). These buddies are apprentices who are already in their second or third year of the apprenticeship. Your buddy will accompany you to your first department and be able to answer any questions you have about the apprenticeship, of course.
You will get an evaluation from each of the departments in which you are placed. Various criteria are taken into account including learning ability, work quality, and working speed. This is a way for you to receive feedback about your performance and personal development on a regular basis.
But we also want to know what you think: you will evaluate all of the departments that you work in throughout your apprenticeship according to various criteria including helpfulness, independence, and workload distribution. Feedback discussions will be held at regular intervals. The aim of these discussion sessions is to exchange ideas for improvements and to develop these together.
In-house training courses and training measures will help you to expand your knowledge during your apprenticeship. You will get an insight into a variety of areas such as environmental protection, workplace safety and fire safety, product training courses, IT skills courses, and much more.
See more of the world
A real highlight is our trips abroad. Here, you can pursue your apprenticeship for a few weeks in one of our many subsidiaries located in other countries. Such a trip abroad will enable you to broaden your horizons and brush up on your language skills. You will learn about other cultures and will also gain countless experiences for later on in life.
In teams you will get to master steep descents on canoeing or rafting tours, where having fun takes center stage. Day trips are a good opportunity to get to know other apprentices better. You might even develop one or two friendships that last beyond your apprenticeship.
With the JUMO Azubi-Mobil (apprentice car) you have the possibility of using a VW Polo for three weeks for free. First-class performance and a high level of commitment are the key to your paid-for driving fun. JUMO takes on all of the running costs for the car including insurance, tax, and fuel.
Achieve more together
Along with your technical knowledge you will demonstrate your teamwork skills by working on projects. As a group you will have the autonomy – with assistance from your training supervisors of course – to carry out a diverse range of project tasks. Only if everyone chips in will you be able to achieve your objectives!
More health and fitness
With each day, the physical and mental input required for your apprenticeship and career can increase. That is why specialists will tell you how to keep fit and what is good for you throughout your apprenticeship. In each apprenticeship year you will attend at least one health module where you will receive professional advice and active instructions on the topics of movement, ergonomics, nutrition, stress management, relaxation, and addiction prevention. Just join in. Be "JUMOfit"!
More than an apprentice ID card
Your apprentice ID card is like a bonus ticket: you can use it to get reduced admission to the cinema or the swimming pool.
Nobody gets around writing exams in life. Unfortunately, this cannot be changed – but it can be made considerably easier through exam-preparation classes. Before the midterm and final exams you will be prepared for your exam in the best way possible, so that nothing can go wrong.
Our apprentices are among the best: for many consecutive years JUMO has been bestowed with the "TOP-10-Betrieb des Jahres" (top 10 companies of the year) award. Every year this goes to companies that produce an apprentice with the best results for their respective professional category. JUMO is also proud to be a multiple district winner in various apprenticeship trades. We have our apprentices to thank for this title. They were recognized as the best graduates in their respective professional category.
Committed and qualified instructors will be at your side and will support you during your apprenticeship with both career and educational matters. They will reassure you that, together, it is possible to overcome anything. That you have the ability to take on any challenge that you will face over the course of your apprenticeship and later on in your career.
Make use of the career prospects that JUMO has to offer! With such a huge choice of careers, choosing the right one isn't easy and can raise questions. Contact us. We'll be glad to help.
