The new company headquarters of the Chinese JUMO subsidiary "JUMO Automation Dalian Co. Ltd" was opened a few days ago with a celebratory ceremony. Among the invited guests were 230 JUMO customers from all over China.
The opening of this site allows the Fulda-based specialist in measurement and control technology to lay the foundations for further growth in China. JUMO has been operating in China since 1992 and established its own subsidiary in 1997. The office and production space that the company initially rented in an industrial estate in Dalian, Northern China, is now proving to be too small. This is due to JUMO's turnover in China, which has increased by almost 470 percent in the last six years.
"China is a central partner in JUMO's international growth strategy. Even if the momentum will slightly drop in the next few years, the forecasts still look much better than they do for the rest of the world," emphasizes Michael Juchheim, Managing Partner of the JUMO corporate group.
The new building complex has an area of 15,000m2 available for approximately 400 employees in production and administration. This is double the size of the previous area and will be large enough for the future development of the company. With costs in the double-digit millions range, the new site is also the largest foreign investment in JUMO's company history so far.
JUMO Head of Exports, Reiner Riedl, is particularly proud of the short project duration: "Together with the Executive Director of the Chinese subsidiary, Stefan Dette, we established and commissioned a completely new, cutting-edge production plant in just nine months. This is only possible in such a short time in a family company with flat hierarchies and short decision-making paths."
According to Michael Juchheim, the strong growth in China supports the corporate group in many ways: "From the Dalian production site we can tap the enormous market potential in China at competitive prices. Here, we manufacture temperature probes for heat meters in the same high quality as in our company headquarters in Germany – and these temperature probes have made us a global market leader." Furthermore, Dalian is a cutting-edge site for the production of industrial temperature probes for various industries and applications, he states. "China is also an important sales market for JUMO products, which are developed and manufactured in Germany and then exported," adds Michael Juchheim.
